We know from experience that being a GP extends beyond surgery to include home visits and telephone consultations. We therefore aim to take this into consideration when negotiating hourly/daily rates.

Swalehouse Locums can offer a number of options for payment:

  • Direct locum payment, with GP responsible for his own tax
  • Swalehouse Locums responsible for GP’s PAYE and NI directly
  • Swalehouse Medic’s payment scheme 

The Medic’s payment scheme allows direct payment for courses, conferences and exams through this unique scheme.

Swalehouse Locums can save you money on these recurrent medical outgoings. We offer a Pay As You Earn scheme as a standard service to all medics.

In addition, and currently unique, Swalehouse Locums offers a new Medic payment scheme for payment of exams, medical courses and conferences.

Once you have earned money through working as a locum for Swalehouse, you have a choice of how to be paid.

You can be:

  • Paid promptly and directly for the locum work undertaken, or
  • Part or all of your locum work earnings can enter into our new Medic payment scheme.

Under such a scheme, Swalehouse Locums can pay for such events DIRECTLY on your behalf. Essentially, you have earned this money and the event is paid for PRIOR to paying tax on the earnings.

For example, the average take home wage for a doctor is £500 per week. To pay for a £2,000 worth of exams, courses and conferences, this equates to ONE month’s work AFTER TAX.
